Just a quick update…

Noah started at a new school today, called Journey School.

He had no problem adjusting to the new environment and started making new friends right away when I dropped him off this morning.

I was prepared to spend some time with him to make sure he was okay at his new school, but he didn’t need me around for very long before he started to dive in and explore everything at his new school.

Within a few minutes of exploring, he wanted to leave his classroom and go down the hall to see the rocket ship and the race car right away. These seem to be his favorite parts of his new school. They are hand made wooden vehicles that you can get in with lots of buttons and lights. He loves them.

His new teachers sent what appears to be the first of daily slideshow videos. As you’ll see, Noah made his way to the rocket and the race car. Seems like he’s been having a great time at his first day at school.

Here’s a quick shot I took just before I headed out the door. Noah, one of his new teachers, Ashley, and a new friend, all plopped down on the couch together to look through Noah’s “A book about Noah” book, which has 20 or 30 little photos of his family, things that bring him comfort, and some of his favorite experiences.

All the kids have a book like this that they share with each other…like an analog version of a Facebook profile page in picture form.

Over the weekend, Noah entered his first real bike race at the local indoor velodrome race track, and he had a super big fun time!

He was the youngest rider in the 3 to 4 year old category, and he ended up winning the race!

It was amazing to watch and so much fun to see him having that much fun. He tried really hard and did great, and he had so much fun that when he finished the second little obstacle course race, he went back out on the track by himself and said to me “I should run around one time and then ride my bike around as fast as I can.” It was like he was training for the next race, though he was only doing it again because it was so much fun.

I hope you enjoy the video, and I apologize in advance for the shaky recording during the race part of it. I was running around trying to film at the same time that I was trying to help him do the race. Next time Mama will do the video camera

Last night was a historic night. Noah and I rode bikes together for the first time!

He’s been getting so fast on his run bike that I can no longer keep up with him on foot, so I grabbed my bike an rode with him in the park.

This opened up a whole bunch of new possibilities for where we could explore together, and we discovered a bigger hill on the side of the park that was much more fun than the old, gentler hill in the middle of the park.

As he got better on the hill, we kept going up a little further each time, staying safe but have a little more fun each time.

My heart was soaring as we rode bikes together for the first time. I’ll remember this moment for the rest of my life.

Pretty soon, we’re going to get his pedal bike out and see if he’s old enough to figure out how to pedal to make a bike go

Hope you enjoy the video!

The first family adventure of 2011 happened today, the first day of the year. There was just enough snow on the ground from our last snow storm a couple days ago to have some sledding fun and giggles and snowy smiles.

Noah is very good and holding on tight to the ropes inside the saucer and loves it when I spin him around as he goes down the hill. We all had a super fun time today in the snow, going up and down the hill 15 or 20 times.

Hope you enjoy the video. Sorry for the shakiness of the video. I was recording with my iphone as I ran backwards down the hill in front of Noah.

Noah is now a couple months into his second year and his language is starting to explode! Seems like every day he comes out with something new, something funny, or some super long sentence that tells a whole story, as you can see at the end of this latest video.

The other day we were at REI picking up a few things, and when I showed him a pair of new winter gloves, he took them and immediately said, while examining them, “Ooohhhhhh…Papa, these are perfect for me!”

A little later, he was busy riding a bike around REI that he liked a lot, and as we took it back to the bike rack with the other bikes, he said to me, “Papa, I like this bike A LOT. I want to buy it.”

I couldn’t help but laugh. This is the first time he has ever said that he wanted to buy something, and the thing he wants to buy is a bike! Just like his Papa…

Yesterday, while hugging his Mama, he said “You smell like gummy bears, Mom.” Mama had on some new facial spray that has a fruity smell, and he liked it enough to compare it ton one of his favorite treats (his gummy bear vitamins.)

Then, last week, I walked in the house with my cycling gear one, about to go for a ride on my lunch break. Noah was sitting at his table drawing and silently watched me walk in to the living room, which is his playroom. He looked at me and out of nowhere said, “Nice outfit, man.”

It’s a little startling when he does this. He’s two and is coming out with these sentences that sound like a teenager.

It’s fascinating to see his language development take off like this!

Hope you enjoy the video in this post. Noah had a grand time at Halloween with Mimi here, and in a few days, Bubby Sue, Grampa Jeff, Uncle Marc, and Auntie Lana will be here for Thanksgiving for more fun!

The time came and Noah’s legs were finally long enough to allow him to get his first run-bike…a bike that has no pedals or brakes.

Bubby Sue and Grampa Jeff helped us get this bike for the little monkey (thanks, guys!), and he’s been in love with it since the moment he got on it.

The first three days we had it, he wouldn’t let us leave it in the car…it had to be in the house, where he could ride it around and around the living room and kitchen. I know how he feels! (Papa loves his new bike just as much

It didn’t take him long to figure out how to ride the bike, and as soon as he got it, he stated looking for the biggest hill he could find to go down…picking up his feet and balancing on the bike and picking up speed. We are going to have our hands full with Noah for quite some time I think…

He continues to be a very physical little fellow…always on the move and wanting to do things with his body. We have to get him enrolled in some kind of sports very soon, as he has way too much energy that wants to be outside playing with some kind of ball.

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to put together a collection of clips and post them here. Life has been a bit crazy busy for the past couple months.

Every day Noah seems to grow up a little more. New words are coming almost every day and he seems to get an inch taller every week. And wow, the boy likes to move and dance and run! Amazing how fast it’s all happening.

So, below is the latest collection of clips…another rough edit of moments from Noah’s life over the past couple months. There’s a few blips in this one…not sure what caused them. Could be time for a new video camera.

Hope you enjoy it

We’re off on our first big family vacation abroad in a couple weeks: going to Antigua, Guatemala for 10 days. The video from that trip should be interesting and fun!

Hi Everyone.

It’s been a while since I’ve had the time to make a video, but here’s one now for you.

Noah is growing up fast! He’s up to about 40 words right now, and seems to be picking more up every day.

As you’ll see, he loves hats, and loves to run (among other things…he also loves the Moon, tractors, and buses…oh, and “chocte” too, which is how he says chocolate.)

Enjoy the video!
