Saying goodbye to a dear friend…

sasha_noah_7-28-09

Yesterday was a sad day for Bari, me, and Sasha. Over the past 9 months, Sasha has been a dream come true in terms of helping us raise Noah. She has become part of our family: Noah, Bari, and I all feel love for her and care about her.

But the time came for Sasha to chase down a dream that will take her to Berkeley, CA.

Yesterday was her last day with Noah, and we were all sad. I don’t think Noah knew what was going on, but it was a very touching day. Sasha brought Noah a great little book about dogs in the park, and wrote Noah a note that he won’t be able to read for a few years, a very sweet note about all the dogs they’ve seen and barked at together in the park.

And she gave us a beautiful card with wonderful thoughts and emotions expressed in it. We will save that one…

All of us will miss Sasha deeply, and hope that she finds what she’s looking for out in the Bay Area. Secretly, and selfishly, I’m hoping that one day she’ll return to be our Noah helper once again.

We love you Sasha!!

Updates…

In the past few days, Noah is starting to stand up on his own from the floor, and…just stands there looking around from his new vantage point. So cute to see him do this.

He’s been walking each day on his own a bit, but only when we stand him up in front of one of us and call him over. He’ll walk the 4 or 5 feet in his adorable wobble walk. Sometimes he really gets into it and wants to go back and forth between the two of us. Other times, once is enough and if we stand him up to try again, he cries and folds himself in two, refusing to stand.

Tonight he had a great dinner: goat cheese bits, smoked salmon, carrot cake muffin, and corn on the cob. Wow does he ever like corn on the cob!

In a few days, we’ll be taking him on his first plane ride to Chicago, as we make our way for his first time to the cottage, to Linden Hills, to the beach, and to meet Grama and Uncle John for the first time. This will be a summer to remember, that’s for sure.

The Spinning Harmonica Player…

Well, we missed a month here with getting a video up. The move to the new house interrupted things, and I only just now found the cords I needed to hook up the camera to my laptop to make another movie.

At the end of this video, you’ll see a quick tour of our new home, which we all love very much :-)

Enjoy!
